Why Holiday in Africa?

Africa is the world's most diverse continent — home to the ancient wonders of Egypt, the spice markets and kasbahs of Morocco, the world's greatest wildlife safaris in Kenya and Tanzania, the Cape Winelands of South Africa, the pristine beaches of Zanzibar and Mozambique, and the gorilla trekking of Rwanda and Uganda. For UK travellers, North Africa (Morocco and Egypt) offers short-haul adventure within 4–5 hours' flight. East and southern Africa require a longer journey but deliver life-changing wildlife experiences. The continent is also home to some of the world's most underrated beach destinations.

Africa Travel Tips

  • Morocco and Egypt are excellent year-round destinations — but avoid July and August in Morocco's inland cities (Fez, Marrakech), where temperatures regularly exceed 40°C.
  • For East Africa safaris, the dry seasons provide the best wildlife viewing: June–October for Kenya's Masai Mara (including the Great Migration July–September) and June–September for Tanzania's Serengeti.
  • Travel insurance with emergency medical evacuation cover is essential for East Africa — the nearest appropriate medical facility can be many hours away from remote safari camps.
  • Many African countries require specific vaccines (Yellow Fever is mandatory for some; malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended for most) — consult your GP or a travel health clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure.
